Travis Hunter may be new to the NFL, but his impact is already impossible to ignore. Just weeks into his professional career, the Jacksonville Jaguars' No. 2 overall draft pick has made waves with his rare combination of talent, versatility, and what his coaches are calling "superhuman" endurance.

The former Colorado Buffaloes phenom dazzled during the Jaguars' first organized team activity (OTA) practice of the summer. Despite a whirlwind pre-draft schedule, Hunter impressed coaches with his ability to keep going, and going , without losing a step.

"He can run forever," Jaguars offensive coordinator Liam Coen said after Monday's practice. "He'll run a route, jog back, and then go again like he never stopped. It's clear he's in football shape, even after everything leading up to the draft."

Hunter's goal to play both wide receiver and cornerback full-time in the NFL is more than a lofty ambition, it's quickly becoming a realistic expectation. During his 2024 Heisman-winning season at Colorado, he played a staggering 1,483 total snaps, dividing his time between offense, defense, and special teams.

At Monday's practice, Hunter worked with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who was equally enthusiastic about his new teammate.

"He's got juice," Lawrence said. "He can run all day, and he brings great energy. He's explosive, especially in and out of his cuts, and just super fun to watch."

Learning curve and ability

Of course, no rookie enters the league without growing pains. Coen acknowledged that Hunter made a couple of mistakes during practice but was quick to praise the way he owned up to them.

"He missed a few assignments, but he came off the field and took responsibility right away," Coen said. "That's what you want in a young player, talent is one thing, but ability shows maturity."

With his rare athleticism, relentless motor, and drive to improve, Travis Hunter is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting players to watch this preseason. The Jaguars will get their first look at him in live action when they face the Pittsburgh Steelers on August 9.
