Dak Prescott excited about Lamb-Pickens aerial duo Jerry Jones got him

After the Draft and free agency, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said he is happy with the aerial unit that Jerry Jones put together for the team in 2025, with the arrival of explosive receiver George Pickens, who will partner with CeeDee Lamb, one of the best in the league. He said he is looking forward to working with his receivers as early as next week when team-organized activities begin.

Pickens comes from being the leading receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he caught 174 es for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns in three seasons

"You turn on the tape and you see a guy who can catch the ball," Prescott said in an interview Wednesday with radio station 1310 The Ticket in Dallas

You put the ball near him, he has very strong hands. He's more than a good receiver. He thinks it's his when it's in the air. I'm excited for him. I know we need help at that position

Before making the flashy trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers for their receiver, the Cowboys had Tetairoa McMillan as a first-round pick candidate, but he was no longer available for the Cowboys' turn and they had to hold talks with several teams before reaching an agreement with the Steelers, in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick to Pittsburgh and swapping fifth- and sixth-round picks in 2027.

"I know CeeDee needs help, and I think when you have a guy like that, I heard George say it, it's hard to double-team two guys," Prescott added

So when you have other guys who have had reps and know how to get open in the league, I think we're forming a good group of weapons

A new Dez Bryant on the team

For his part, the team's vice president, Stephen Jones, said that Pickens reminds him of the Cowboys' star receiver of the past decade, Dez Bryant, who was known for his energy on the field. In an interview with Mad Dog Sports Radio on SiriusXM, he acknowledged that Pickens: "Is a great competitor, and we had one in Dez Bryant who was the same".

He added: "I mean, he just didn't have enough. And wow, when the lights came on and his boots hit the turf, he was a different person. And it looks like George is going to be like that".

Certainly, sometimes he plays with a lot of emotion and... as we all know, when you play sports and compete with a lot of emotion, sometimes you can make a wrong decision. The same thing happened to us with Dez, but he knows that he wants to continue dominating it, as he always did. And we believe it's worth it for what it entails, in of what he's doing to keep getting better when he competes week in and week out

Jones acknowledged that the trade took a lot of work for the Cowboys, because of the problems he has been involved in, but he said that when they tracked him down, they discovered that "his teammates love him very much"."They want him on their team. And we felt the same way about Dez. And we believe he will bring to our organization what we need: a competitive edge and that energy on the field, day in and day out, week in and week out," he concluded.
