DALLAS COWBOYS

The Dallas Cowboys have achieved something that places them as an embarrassment to all of American professional sports

One of Dallas' worst seasons in decades

The Dallas Cowboys' tragedy this season is far from over. After starting the year as the fourth favorite in betting odds to win the Super Bowl, Jerry Jones' dream of returning to the big game has irreparably shattered.

Since Jones declared during the offseason that the team was going "All-in" for this season, what has unfolded for the once-proud "America's Team" has been the complete opposite: zero notable moves in free agency, draft picks that left much to be desired, the loss of key offensive players, the departure of Dan Quinn as defensive coordinator, Jones' mishandling of contracts for CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott, injuries to critical players, and a long list of other missteps have turned the Cowboys' 2024 season into a nightmare.

To top it off, the Dallas Cowboys currently hold a dubious distinction that makes them the laughingstock not just of the NFL but of all American professional sports. Across the "big four" leagues (NFL, NHL, MLB, and NBA), the Cowboys are the only team without a single home win this season.

In fact, the Cowboys haven't won at home since December 30, 2023, when they controversially defeated the Detroit Lions in a game where referees played a decisive role by overturning a two-point conversion attempt from the Jared Goff-led Lions, coached by Dan Campbell.

Another curse in process?

That same day marked the induction of legendary Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson-who built the team that won three Super Bowls between 1992 and 1995-into the Cowboys' Ring of Honor. Since then, Dallas hasn't seen a victory at AT&T Stadium, not even in preseason (losing to the Chargers in August's final preseason game).

Dallas has not only endured a humiliating home losing streak but has also been routinely blown out by opponents:

  • January 14, 2024: Cowboys 32 - Packers 48
  • August 24, 2024: Cowboys 19 - Chargers 26 (preseason)
  • September 15, 2024: Cowboys 19 - Saints 44
  • September 22, 2024: Cowboys 25 - Ravens 28
  • October 13, 2024: Cowboys 9 - Lions 47
  • November 10, 2024: Cowboys 6 - Eagles 34
  • November 18, 2024: Cowboys 10 - Texans 34

With seven consecutive home losses (after going over two years unbeaten at home), the Cowboys are mired in a crisis unseen since the final seasons of the legendary Tom Landry in the late 1980s. Worse yet, with looming salary cap issues, the light at the end of the tunnel seems nonexistent.
