The Kansas City Chiefs hope to settle a big debt with Patrick Mahomes in the NFL Draft

As long as Patrick Mahomes is in control of the offense, the Kansas City Chiefs will always be contenders. There is no doubt that the Texas Tech product has impressive talent, and the results in the NFL have been remarkable, especially with three Super Bowl wins.

The numbers could perhaps be even better, but the Chiefs have a big problem they need to fix immediately: their offensive line. In the last Super Bowl, Mahomes was brutally hit and sacked six times in the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Chiefs Lost Joe Thuney to Free Agency

The Chiefs suffered a significant loss, especially Patrick Mahomes, after the team's management sent Thuney to the Chicago Bears for a fourth-round pick in the 2026 Draft.

This is how the Chiefs' offense lost their guard, who played a key role in Kansas City's recent achievements. Thuney arrived in 2021 and signed a five-year, $80 million contract, but now his future is in the Windy City.

After Thuney's departure, the Chiefs signed Jaylon Moore from the San Francisco 49ers to cover Mahomes' blindside, but that doesn't seem like it will be enough.

The Chiefs' Eyes Are on the Draft to Protect Mahomes

The name that has started to surface is Tate Ratledge According to Pro Football Network, the offensive lineman from the Georgia Bulldogs could be on the minds of Kansas City's management.

"He's a powerful guard prospect who places his hands well at the point of attack and can absorb punishment in protection. After trading Thuney, Kingsley Suamataia is expected to be the starting left guard for the Chiefs in 2025. That said, it's worth bringing in some competition."

According to NFL.com, Ratledge was the most athletic guard at the combine and a very solid prospect who could become a big help for Patrick Mahomes.
