The drama unfolded after newly surfaced text messages between Lively and Baldoni were revealed in a legal battle surrounding their film It Ends With Us. In the messages, Lively referred to having "dragons" that she could rely on for -leading many to believe she was referencing her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and Swift.

Blake Lively's texts put Swift in the spotlight

"If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you'll appreciate that I'm Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons," Lively allegedly wrote in a message to Baldoni, according to his amended complaint. "For better or worse, but usually for better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for."

Baldoni seemed to confirm Swift was one of those "dragons" when he responded, "I really love what you did. It really does [help] a lot. Makes it so much more fun and interesting. (And I would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor)."

Swift reportedly feels blindsided

According to an insider, Swift isn't happy about being pulled into the situation. "Taylor really wishes Blake hadn't dragged her into this whole thing," a source told Page Six. "She cherishes genuine friendships, but she can't help but feel used at this point."

While Swift and Lively have maintained a close bond for nearly a decade, the Cruel Summer singer has noticeably stayed silent about It Ends With Us, unlike other projects involving her famous friends. When Lively's movie premiered in August 2024, Swift did not publicly it as she had done for Zoë Kravitz's Blink Twice.

Will this affect their friendship?

Swift has built a reputation for being fiercely loyal to her friends, but she also values her privacy, especially when it comes to legal battles she isn't involved in. With the Super Bowl just around the corner, she may choose to remain silent on the issue, avoiding further distractions before the big game.

So far, representatives for Swift, Lively, and Baldoni have not commented on the situation, leaving fans to speculate about whether this controversy could put a strain on one of Hollywood's most high-profile friendships.
