The 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs) will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Monday, in a ceremony that for the first time will take place during Memorial Day and is the 51st edition of the prestigious music awards. This will be the first regular broadcast of the awards since November 2022, and the first to be broadcast on CBS
Although it is one of the most prestigious galas in the US music industry and was exclusive to ABC between 1974 and 2022, it will also be the first ceremony not to be held in the Los Angeles area.
What's new at the 2025 AMAs
The host of the event will be Puerto Rican Jennifer Lopez, for the second time in her career. She previously hosted the event in 2015, when she opened the broadcast with a performance of her 1999 hit, 'Waiting for Tonight', followed by a medley of the year's biggest hits.
In addition, Janet Jackson will receive the Icon Award, which recognizes artists who represent a global influence on the music industry. Jackson, an 11-time AMA winner, will also have her first televised performance since 2018.
Another of the celebrities announced is Gwen Stefani, who will perform a medley to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her debut solo album 'Love.Angel.Music.Baby', which includes the Billboard Hot 100-topping hit 'Hollaback Girl', as well as a song from her latest album, Bouquet, which she released last November.
Additionally, country music star Lainey Wilson will perform to celebrate her four Academy of Country Music Awards 2025 wins. Also participating is first-time nominee and emerging artist Benson Boone, who will perform his latest single, 'Mystical Magical', which leads his second album 'American Heart', which will be released on June 20.
The list of performers also includes other young figures such as Blake Shelton, Alex Warren and Renee Rapp.
The favorites for the night of the AMA 2025:
Kendrick Lamar leads the nominations this year with 10, followed by Post Malone with eight nominations, and Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan and Shaboozey with seven each.
