Sean "Diddy" Combs' ongoing sex crimes trial took another dramatic turn on Friday, as his former girlfriend, Casandra "Cassie" Ventura, continued her testimony in a Manhattan courtroom. Ventura, the prosecution's key witness, has spent four days detailing alleged abuse she suffered during her on-again, off-again relationship with Combs, which lasted over a decade.
During cross-examination, Combs' attorney Anna Estevao questioned Ventura about an incident in 2013, when Combs allegedly took her phone out of jealousy, suspecting she had danced with Chris Brown. Ventura responded that she didn't recall much about the event, aside from the fact that she wasn't dancing with Brown. When presented with text exchanges related to the incident, she maintained that Combs took her phone due to jealousy and suspicion.
Ventura also testified about other alleged threats Combs made toward men he believed she was involved with. She claimed that when Combs discovered she was dating rapper Kid Cudi, he threatened to blow up Cudi's car. Additionally, she recounted a 2016 incident, when Combs allegedly took her phone after discovering she was dating an NFL player. According to Ventura, Combs ran out of a car with her phone, attempted to access personal messages, and later called the NFL player while still in possession of her device.
Something to keep on aye on
Meanwhile, Chris Brown, who was referenced in court, is currently facing his own legal troubles. The singer was arrested in the United Kingdom and charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with an alleged 2023 assault at a London nightclub. He is reportedly being held without bail.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy. His defense team has pushed back against Ventura's claims, arguing that she was a willing participant in their relationship and that Combs' actions do not constitute sex trafficking or racketeering.
The trial continues to draw widespread attention, with Ventura's testimony offering harrowing s of her time with Combs. The case has reignited discussions around power dynamics, abuse, and ability in the entertainment industry.
