'Horizon' is the western film saga that Kevin Costner is writing, directing and filming. Currently facing the second film, Costner is not having the acceptance among the public that he would like. In fact, production company New Line Cinema, which helped with the financing, sued Costner for non-payment. This is because, of the $100 million budget, only $38 million has been recovered at the box office worldwide.
But this is not the only one of Costner's problems. A stuntwoman, Devyn Labella, has reportedly filed a lawsuit alleging that she was a victim of sexual harassment, workplace harassment and discrimination.
The stuntwoman claims she was required to participate in a "violent, unscripted and unscheduled" rape scene, something that is illegal, as by contract, stunt performers and actors must be made aware of their roles in advance, and cannot be instructed at the last minute to perform scenes of a sexual nature or that require them to appear naked
Devyn Labella: "I felt exposed, unprotected and betrayed"
Labella has shared a statement denouncing this situation, where the following sentences can be read: "That day I felt exposed, unprotected and betrayed by a system that promises safety and professionalism (...) This experience has awakened in me a lifelong mission to be the advocate I needed, ensuring that no one is left in such a vulnerable situation"
The response has come quickly from the actor's legal team, with his lawyer, Martin D. Singer, speaking out for his client, calling Labella "a serial complainant" who "contradicts herself with her own actions". He also defends Costner, whom he considers someone very committed to the safety of the people who work with him.
