Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries will not receive payments in June 2025, although they will not lose their benefits. This is due to an adjustment in the payment schedule of the Social Security istration (SSA).
The SSA follows a specific schedule for the distribution of SSI payments, which are normally delivered on the first day of each month. However, when this date falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment is brought forward to the last working day of the previous month.
This is precisely the case for June 2025, where the 1st falls on a Sunday, causing the payment to be issued on Friday, May 30. As a result, beneficiaries received two payments in May, on the 1st and 30th, but will not receive any during the month of June.
It is important to note that this situation does not mean a loss of benefits, but is simply an adjustment in the payment schedule.
SSI payment schedule for the rest of 2025
This phenomenon of advance payments is not exclusive to June. It will be repeated on several occasions during 2025 due to the coincidence of the first day of the month with weekends or holidays. According to the official SSA calendar, the next SSI payments for the rest of the year will be:
- Tuesday, July 1
- Friday, August 1
- Friday, September 29
- Wednesday, October 1
- Friday, October 31 (corresponding to November, as the 1st falls on a Saturday)
- Monday, December 1
- Wednesday, December 31 (corresponding to January 2026)
This schedule can be confusing for those who are not familiar with the SSA payment system, so it is advisable to take note of these dates for better financial planning.
Differences with other Social Security benefits
Unlike SSI payments, regular Social Security benefits for retirees and seniors follow a different schedule that is not affected in the same way. These payments are distributed on Wednesdays, depending on the beneficiary's date of birth:
- Born between the 1st and 10th of the month: they receive their payment on the second Wednesday of the month (June 11)
- Born between the 11th and 20th: they will receive their payment on the third Wednesday of the month (June 18)
- Born between the 21st and 31st of the month: they receive their payment on the fourth Wednesday of the month (June 25)
Additionally, people who started receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997 have a fixed payment date: the third day of each month. To avoid confusion with the different payment methods, all beneficiaries are advised to regularly check the SSA's official calendar and the specific payment dates for each program.
