Longtime friends Taylor Swift and Blake Lively appear to be taking a break from their close-knit relationship, as the singer distances herself from the Gossip Girl actress following a legal battle involving Justin Baldoni. Swift, who had no intention of being involved in the dispute, reportedly feels used as an "intimidation tactic" in a high-stakes lawsuit between Baldoni and Lively.

The legal drama stems from a $400 million lawsuit filed by Baldoni against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their PR team, accusing them of defamation and workplace misconduct surrounding the filming of It Ends with Us, the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's best-selling novel.

As tensions escalated, Swift's name was unexpectedly dragged into the controversy, leading her to take a step back from the friendship.

According to DailyMail.com, an insider revealed that Swift is deeply uncomfortable with how her presence was misrepresented and has decided to keep her distance for now.

"For the time being, she is taking a step back from Blake because she doesn't want to get tangled in this more than she already has - which is far more than she ever needed to be," the source stated.

The unexpected fallout

The turning point in the friendship reportedly came when Baldoni alleged that Swift's presence was weaponized against him during a meeting about film edits at Lively and Reynolds' New York penthouse.

In his lawsuit, Baldoni claims that Swift's unexpected arrival at the meeting made him feel pressured to accept Lively's revisions to a pivotal rooftop scene in the film.

He suggested that her presence was not casual but rather a strategic move to make him comply with the changes.

Further fueling the controversy, text messages surfaced in which Lively likened herself to Khaleesi from Game of Thrones and referred to Reynolds and Swift as her "dragons."

"I'm Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have dragons," she allegedly texted Baldoni, implying that she had powerful allies backing her.

While the reference may have been meant as a joke, Swift and her inner circle did not appreciate the implication that she was being used as some sort of enforcer in Lively's dispute.

"Her friends also think that Blake's 'I'm Khaleesi' text to Justin was uncool and unnecessary because she was essentially used as an intimidation tactic. She was referred to as some kind of pet or possession," the insider continued.Swift and Lively have maintained a decade-long friendship, often celebrating milestones together. The singer has even name-dropped Lively's children in her music, and their bond was once seen as unshakable.

When early reports of tension between Lively and Baldoni surfaced last August, Swift was one of the first to show , inviting Lively and Reynolds to her $17 million Rhode Island estate to escape the growing media frenzy.

However, as legal battles intensified, Swift found herself increasingly entangled in a dispute she wanted no part of.

"Taylor has politely backed away from it all. She is conscious of her own image and hates that she was even mentioned," a second source explained.
