Ja Morant, star of the Grizzlies and one of the most spectacular players in the NBA, has announced that he is going to try to stop dunking to take care of his health.

"I'm going to try not to do any more dunks... Everyone thinks I'm lying, but I'm very serious," the anti-gravity Morant told Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

The Grizzlies star shared with the press that his flights to execute his famous dunks are very risky for his health: "Sometimes I get hit in the air and they don't call a foul. Sometimes they call a foul... but I still end up on the floor and after the game you might feel that little fall."

"So I just choose. Two points is two points, that's all that matters," said Ja Morant, who in 12 games this season has only attempted four dunks.

Ja Morant criticised for not making spectacular dunks in games

Ja Morant, one of the most spectacular dunkers in the NBA today despite being only 1.88m tall and weighing 79 kilos, has been booed in some games for softly depositing the ball into the hoop instead of dunking it forcefully.

It's okay. Let them keep booing me. I scored the two points... and it was still a dunk, but it just wasn't the dunk they wanted to see

"There's nothing wrong with that. Let them keep booing me. I scored the two points... and it was still a dunk, it just wasn't the dunk they wanted to see," said the 25-year-old, who has a tremendous vertical leap of 1.22 metres.
