The second season of The Last of Us has come to an end. With a showdown between Abby and Ellie that leaves many unresolved questions, the series has culminated leaving everything open for those who have not played the game and do not know what is going to happen are dying for the third season to arrive.
There's still a lot of story to develop, especially considering what Craig Mazin, the show's executive producer, said about needing four seasons. For the moment, the third is confirmed, and this last episode has left fans wanting more, especially because of that sensational final scene.
The long-awaited showdown between Abby and Ellie takes place
In the previous episode, everything culminated in Jesse saving Ellie and Dina, and Nora's death at the hands of the protagonist. This one, on the other hand, allows us to see Ellie without remorse for what she has done, and continuing in her search for Abby
Jesse, who senses that Dina may be pregnant, wants to leave Seattle, and take both his ex-girlfriend and the rest of the group safely back to Jackson. This means finding and saving Tommy, who is in serious trouble against the Wolves.
But the protagonist is still thinking about her goal, to kill Abby after she killed Joel in front of her. All this tension will lead to a fatal confrontation. Ellie discovers the hideout of Abby's team, and goes after them. She manages to sneak in, but with the misfortune that there she does not meet the antagonist.
She does this with two other people in the group, who do not give in to her and try to avoid being shot, but finally, Ellie, who was not looking to kill them, ends up killing them to prevent them from attacking her. This involuntary murder will affect her later on
Luckily for her, Tommy and Jesse find her, and the group reunites back. Luckily... or not. Once they are back in their 'safe' building, they start to prepare to return to Jackson, but the tensest moment of the series is triggered. Abby has found her friends dead, and has followed the group to their building. There, thinking that it was Tommy who had killed them, she subdues him, to finish him off, and also shoots Jesse, who was trying to avoid the death of the leader of Jackson.
This is the most moving scene of the episode, and the one that leaves everything open to find out what happens in the third season. Ellie is shown as the culprit for the death of Abby's friends, and she feels remorse for having let her live after killing Joel. "I let you live and you ruined it," is the phrase with which the scene ends, just before the image goes black and a shot is heard. What will happen in this confrontation? We'll have to wait until the next season to find out.
