Technology is advancing by leaps and bounds. Two decades ago, mobile phones were dispensable and only used for making phone calls or, failing that, the first communications via SMS messages.
Now, smartphone ownership has become a must, and instant connectivity is something that characterizes the new generations who have already grown up with these devices. However, everything is moving so fast that these devices could become obsolete in the way we know them.
Currently, these consist of a screen that covers the entire device and with instant connectivity. Well, the end of screens could come through new ideas in of connectivity.
Several companies are already marketing smart glasses with augmented reality. Google and Meta already have them on the market, with the Ray-Ban Stories, which do not need a mobile phone to perform many of their functions.
Now, the collaboration between OpenAI and Jony Ive has been revealed, with the two reportedly developing a line of artificial intelligence-based products that move away from the conventional line of screen-based devices. In fact, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Ive believe that screens have had a negative impact on society, causing problems such as anxiety and distractions, and see in artificial intelligence an opportunity to design more natural and human interactions.
A product without an interface, with importance given to voice commands and auditory responses
Ive's team has developed an object that has been described by Altman as "the coolest piece of technology the world has ever seen". An unnamed device that could eliminate visual interfaces and would be important for both voice commands and auditory responses
At the moment, no further details are known, but the commercialization of this product by OpenAI and Ive could completely change the paradigm. In addition, some are already speculating about what this product could be like.
