Good evening everybody and welcome along to another MARCA in English live blog, this time taking you through the Champions League quarterfinal first leg clash between Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona at Signal Iduna Park in .
Barcelona arrive with one foot firmly in the Champions League semi-finals. Hansi Flick's team demolished Dortmund 4-0 in the first leg in Catalonia, delivering a ruthless attacking display that left the Bundesliga side facing a near-impossible task.
It would take a comeback of historic proportions for Dortmund to overturn the deficit -- something only one team in Champions League history has done after losing the first leg by four goals or more. Ironically, it was Barcelona themselves who pulled off that famous remontada against PSG in 2017.
Heading into the second leg, Niko Kovac's Dortmund know the odds are heavily stacked against them. Their recent record at home paints a bleak picture -- only three wins from their last 12 matches at Signal Iduna Park. Even their weekend 2-2 draw away at Bayern Munich in Der Klassiker offered little consolation for their European hopes.
Meanwhile, Barcelona arrive in unbeaten in all 24 of their matches in 2025, fresh from a narrow 1-0 victory over Leganes in LaLiga. Flick's side have already secured the Spanish Super Cup, are leading the La Liga title race, and face Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final later this month.

HALF TIME: DORTMUND 1-0 BARCELONA
Dortmund came bursting out of the traps and managed to take an early lead through Guirassy's penalty. The hosts have had a couple of chances to double their lead and the only positive for Barcelona so far is that they failed to do so. Flick's side will have to come out with a different attitude for the second half otherwise they might be in for another high-profile Champions League knockout scare.
Fourth official has announced 2 minutes of added time.

Barcelona's first decent chance
Six minutes shy of the break, Barcelona conjure up their first decent chance of the match but, unfortunately for them, it fell to right-back Kounde. De Jong's hopeful cross fell to the Frenchman close to the penalty spot but is unable to control the ball properly and the ball dribbles into the hands of Kobel.

Beier spurns golden chance

Wrong choice by Lewandowski
Barcelona had a rare chance to cause damage on the counter but Lewandowski, with Yamal on one side and Fermin on the other, opted for the latter who was offside. Yamal, who was onside, appeared to be the easier option.
Barcelona get a foothold
After a turbulent opening 15 minutes, Hansi Flick's side appear, for now, to have weathered the early storm. The visitors have started to keep possession better, and caused Dortmund to retreat slightly deeper.

GOAL - DORTMUND!
It's a dream start for Dortmund, as they take an early lead from the penalty spot. Guirassy puts it right down the middle, and gives the home fans hope.

Dortmund's confirmed starting XI
The hosts are without Emre Can and Carney Chukwuemeka due to injury. Former Girona right-back Yan Couto is handed a start, while Guirassy leads the line.
Borussia Dortmund XI: Kobel, Süle, Anton, Bensebaini, Couto, Gross, Nmecha, Svensson, Adeyemi, Beier, Guirassy.
Barcelona's confirmed starting XI
It's about as strong a line-up as Hansi Flick can field, despite the four-goal advantage, with the German coach clearly not willing to take any risks. The only enforced change is Gerard Martin, who comes in for the injured Alejandro Balde. Pedri is demoted to the bench, with Fermin and Gavi playing just in front of De Jong in a three-man midfield.
Barcelona XI: Szczesny; Koundé, Cubarsí, Araujo, Martín; De Jong, Fermín, Gavi; Yamal, Lewandowski, Raphinha
Borussia Dortmund vs Barcelona Possible XIs
Dortmund's task is made harder with several key players missing. Marcel Sabitzer and Nico Schlotterbeck are ruled out through injury, while doubts linger over Emre Can. The return of Pascal Gross from suspension provides some midfield stability, but Dortmund need far more than that -- they need goals.
Barcelona will be without left-back Alejandro Balde due to a hamstring injury, with Gerard Martin expected to step in. Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Marc Bernal remain sidelined, but their attacking trio of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and possibly Ferran Torres if Raphinha is not risked, should have enough firepower to finish the job.
?Borussia Dortmund possible starting XI: Kobel; Ryerson, Sule, Anton, Bensebaini; Gross, Nmecha; Gittens, Brandt, Adeyemi; Guirassy
Barcelona possible starting XI: Szczesny; Kounde, Araujo, Cubarsi, Martin; Pedri, De Jong; Yamal, Lopez, Torres; Lewandowski?

FULL-TIME: DORTMUND 3-1 BARCELONA (agg. 3-5)
Barcelona are into the semis, but they certainly made it tough for themselves. The Catalans were simply not ready for Dortmund's fightback and, on another day, it could've ended up in a disastrous night like those of years gone by. If there are any positives for Hansi Flick and his side, it is that they are handed a much-needed wake-up call that any dream of a treble will not be possible with lapses of concentration shown tonight.
