Arsenal 3-0 Real Madrid: Goals, highlights and report - Champions League 24/25

our live blog from the Emirates Stadium in London

Updated

Good evening everybody and welcome to another MARCA in English live blog, this time taking you through the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final clash between Arsenal and Real Madrid from the Emirates Stadium.

For the Gunners, it's a chance to make a statement on the biggest European stage. For the 15-time champions, it's business as usual--but with pressure mounting. Mikel Arteta's side were dominant in the round of 16, overwhelming PSV Eindhoven 9-3 on aggregate.

The north Londoners are unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions and have not lost at home in the Champions League in their past 10 outings, keeping eight clean sheets in that run.

Madrid, by contrast, endured a nail-biting path to the last eight, first eliminating Manchester City in a playoff and then narrowly edging rivals Atletico Madrid in a penalty shootout. Real Madrid's 15 Champions League titles speak volumes, and under Ancelotti, they've never been eliminated at the quarter-final stage since 2003-04. They've progressed in their last 12 quarter-final appearances.

Arsenal, meanwhile, enter the tie under immense pressure, not only due to the calibre of their opponents but also because of recent inconsistencies in front of goal. After thrashing PSV in the last 16, they've only managed seven goals in their last five games
