After an opening ceremony to , with some of the best athletes in the world and several days of excitement, it's time to bring down the curtain on the Paris Olympics.

The XXXIII edition of the Olympic Games will come to an end and will do so with a closing ceremony that aims to live up to what has been a great event.

A little more than two weeks, where there has been everything. Tears, laughter, triumphs, failures and hundreds of anecdotes for which these Olympic Games will remain in the memory of all fans. However, before the final end of the sporting spectacle, there will be a closing ceremony that aims to put the finishing touch on Paris 2024.

Although the inauguration was held on the Seine River, the closing ceremony will not take place in these controversial waters that have been the subject of so much talk in recent weeks.

The venue will be the Stade de and will feature the typical acts that take place at this ceremony. The Olympic flag will be handed over to the next host city, Los Angeles, and the four-year period will come to an end and the next one will begin.

Date and time of the closing ceremony

The last sport to compete in Paris will be women's basketball, with the final taking place at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. A few hours later, the closing ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. ET on August 11, 2024. It will last about two hours.

According to reports, it will feature dancers and acrobats and there is speculation that several well-known personalities such as Tom Cruise will be present. Karen Bass, mayor of Los Angeles, will surely be there to receive the flag.

As for artists, 'Le Parisien' points out two names: the group Phoenix and the electro duo Air. Both will be in charge of livening up the evening with their performances.

When the Olympic Games end

Just like the closing ceremony, the sport will end in Paris on August 11, when the finals of several disciplines will be disputed. All of them in the morning.

In athletics, the women's marathon will take place at 2:00 am. ET In men's water polo, both the third and fourth place and the final will be played. The same goes for men's handball. There will also be competitions in track cycling, women's volleyball and, finally, women's basketball.
