- Team USA fans debate over LeBron James v Stephen Curry MVP award decision
- Golden Steph: Curry's late barrage seals another Olympic men's basketball title, as US beats
The United States team won its fifth consecutive gold medal in men's basketball at the Olympics Games in Paris, after beating its counterpart from 98-87 in the final. The French squad was not enough at home to take revenge for what happened 3 years ago in Tokyo, a competition in which they also had to settle for silver after losing to the North American team.
All this had led to the new nickname for Team USA, as LeBron James was asked about this, having the Dream Team and Redeem Team in the past, but the "King" said that they were "The Avengers".
This team was different from other, yet some players were the same. There were some side stories to them as Jayson Tatum did not play as much as people wanted, yet still it had its own characteristics and people liked it a lot.
The way they won the gold medal
With 3 minutes left, the home team had placed themselves only 3 points behind their rival, however, that was when Stephen Curry appeared and hit 4 triples in a row and marked the final direction of the match.
This is the 17th tournament, of 21 that have been held in the Summer Fair, that conquers the United States. The former USSR won the gold medal in Munich in 1972 and Seoul in 1988.
For it was its fourth silver, after London in 1948, Sidney in 2000 and Tokyo, in all of which it was sured by the United States. The mark that Team USA has left has once again set the standard in the way basketball is played around the globe.
