- Summer Olympic. Steve Kerr gets bashed for starting Joel Embiid in Team USA
- Olympic Games. LeBron James gives an order to Kevin Durant in front of Team USA and reporters, and Kevin Durant reacts
Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant suffered a calf injury that has prevented him from playing any of the pre-Olympics games that Team USA had scheduled leading up to the main event. He is part of a group of All-Star veterans who are trying to emulate what the 1992 Dream Team was able to accomplish. Durant is one of the leading voices inside the group alongside the likes of Stephen Curry and LeBron James. If coach Steve Kerr managed to get the ideal dynamic he wants, this team has the potential to be truly unstoppable at the Summer Olympics in Paris. Despite the injury, the good news came from the coach himself.
Steve Kerr confirms Kevin Durant is back in action
During a recent press conference right after practice, coach Steve Kerr was the one who confirmed Kevin Durant is back to activity after suffering that calf injury. He is not only expected to be considered again but he will probably also have some minutes duringSaturday's exhibition against South Sudan. Kd already returned to the fold on Friday and the coach did seem optimistic from what he saw. In fact, he said the following to reporters: "I would love for him to play in a game, but wehave to take it day by day. We'll see where he is tomorrow. We are just going to show an abundance of caution."
Durant himself also spoke to the press after practice, he went into detail about which exercises he can do and those he still struggles to complete. The Suns star confirmed he is in no rush to return next Saturday because he definitely wants to help Team USA when the team will need him the most. When he is healthy, Kevin Durant is one of the most dangerous players in basketball. Here is what he told the press on Friday after practice: "You always had those concerns, but I see progress every day. It's one of those things you just got to monitor every day and I see how I feel after I do certain movements and certain exercises. But my thing is just keep working and see what happens."
