The 2024 NFL season is in full swing, with an exciting Week 1 already in the books. As was the case in 2023, league-wide ing numbers are down, continuing a worrying trend that began with the retiring of several elite quarterbacks.

This season will be the second in a row without the best of those QBs, Tom Brady. But this year, Brady is keeping a closer eye than ever before on the game, as he is Fox's top color commentator. Now that he's out of the league from a playing perspective, Brady is also using some spare time to play fantasy football.

Tom Brady loves what Baker Mayfield is doing

Following Week 1, he gave fans a glimpse into his team, announcing a big regret he has about it: not having Baker Mayfield.

Down in Tampa Bay, Baker Mayfield threw four touchdowns. Two to my boy Mike Evans, one to Chris Godwin. What a performance. Baker, I wish I'd have took you in fantasy. But a great start: finding Mike, finding Chris. Having that type of performance at home. That's exactly what the team needs. Great job.

Mayfield took over for Brady with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following Brady's departure, resurrecting his career with a Pro Bowl season. He's off to a similarly great start in 2024, and Brady has taken notice.

The former 1st overall pick is playing the best football of his career at 29 years old, and he seems to be set to stay in Tampa for the long run if he keeps playing like this.
