Despite leading the Philadelphia Eagles to two Super Bowl glory, Jalen Hurts continues to face scepticism about his place among the NFL's elite quarterbacks and now Micah Parson's brother rubbishes claims he's better than Lamar Jackson.

Hurts produced 221 yards from 22 attempts against the Kansas City Chiefs on February 9, yielding two touchdowns that inspired the Eagles to the title; whilst he also added 72 yards and a rushing touchdown too.

For many, that would naturally end any debate about whether the 26-year-old is in the same bracket as the likes of Patrick Mahomes, the Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen or the Baltimore Ravens' Jackson.

However, in spite of his efforts at the Caesars Superdome, many are unconvinced. Including those close to the very best the NFL has to offer as Terrence Parsons, brother of the Dallas Cowboys' Micah, laughs off claims he's in the same group.

"Bro this s**t is insane there's just no way.... Give Lamar Jalen's team, he's breaking records ing and running, let's be real," Parsons Jr. posted to X.com, formerly Twitter, when a suggested Hurts is better than the Jackson.

He's not the only one either. Greg Cosell, NFL films analyst, also suggested the Eagles talent lacks the anticipation of the very best of the best in football; a problem he says he's had since college.

Comparing the Numbers: Hurts vs. Jackson

Although he boasts an exceptional record of 49-27-1 and has been rewarded with a $50 million annual salary should, for many analysts and fans, Hurts remains a target of ongoing doubt of his quality. So how does he actually shape up against Jackson?

The Baltimore Ravens quarterback and 2019 league MVP, has a career record of 70-24 as a starter, giving him a clear edge in total wins; with his athleticism and dynamic playmaking ability credited as key core talents.

However, Hurts is on the march and, with a slight tweak to the metrics, competes with similar numbers. Through five seasons, Hurts has thrown for more ing yards per game (190.5 to Jackson's 174.4).

He has also scored more total touchdowns (140 to 125), and even notched one more win during the same time span. Of course, he also has one Super Bowl win whilst the Ravens' ace remains on zero.

Yet this still isn't enough to swing public perception. For example, CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin released a pre-2025 quarterback ranking that saw Hurts ranked below the Washington Commanders' Jayden Daniels too.

So, what is clear is that even a Super Bowl win is not enough to shield Hurts from the ever-shifting standards by which quarterbacks are judged in today's NFL. Something the Chiefs' Mahomes knows about all too much.
