Jalen Hurts finds himself in hot water with the Philadelphia Eagles fans following his attendance at the Met Gala on May 5, who accuse him of lacking commitment to the team.

The quarterback inspired his colleagues to the Super Bowl title and rubbished the Kansas City Chiefs' hopes of a three-peat on February 9, smashing them 40-22 at the Caesars Superdome.

Thus making him an eternal icon in the City of Brotherly Love, one might expect that the 26-year-old can essentially do whatever he wants with impunity in Phillie; but that guess would be misplaced.

His recent public appearances and perceived distance from teammates have fans of the champions questioning whether he is truly committed to the team ahead of the 2025/26 NFL season.

It relates to his appearance at the Met Gala in New York, which he attended alongside his wife, as fans wonder why he managed to make the time for a fashion event but not A.J. Brown's engagement party and the Eagles' official visit to the White House.

His absence from the White House is very simply explained away as a "scheduling conflict" meaning he couldn't interact with President Donald Trump, who has said controversial and inflammatory comments about black people and minorities in the past.

Skipping his wide receiver's engagement party, however, was one that stung fans as Brown marked his occasion with his longtime partner Kelsey Riley with a gathering attended by numerous teammates. Hurt was absent.

One fan wrote online, "Shows up to the Met Gala but not to AJ's engagement party?"

A second said, "And not to the White House either. Guy is a complete bum with his priorities all out of place."

Whilst a third commented, "alen acting all Hollywood since he won the Super Bowl. Too busy for the White House, too busy for AJ's engagement...But he sure got time to hang with the Elites at the #MetGala."

Hurt insists he's humble

While some speculate his absence may be the result of a strained relationship between the two players-confirmed by veteran Eagles lineman Brandon Graham after Week 13's win over the Panthers-others see it as a worrying sign of drifting priorities.

Despite the backlash, Hurts has continued to project humility and focus during media interactions. Following the Super Bowl win, an old interview from his high school days resurfaced online, reinforcing the quarterback's longstanding commitment to hard work and perspective.

"It's a blessing," Hurts said at the time in New Orleans. "There's a lot of kids out there that want to be in my shoes and they hope and pray to be in my shoes.

"But I'm a blessed young man, I'm humble, and I work hard for everything."
