The Philadelphia Eagles are bringing back an iconic uniform set for 2023.
The reigning NFC champions on Monday announced that they will wear their classic "Kelly Green" jerseys for two games during the 2023 campaign -- against the Miami Dolphins in Week 7, and against the Buffalo Bills in Week 12.
The unveiling comes shortly after leaked photos of the uniforms appeared online, prompting Philadelphia to move up the announcement to Monday -- which only enhanced fan excitement, with Eagles diehards lining up early to get their shot at a Kelly Green jersey.
Fans began gathering at 3:20 in the morning!
Eagles fanatics began converging at the team's pro shops in Pennsylvania and New Jersey in the early hours of Monday morning, hoping for a chance to purchase a Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, or Jason Kelce jersey.
Meanwhile, in the Eagles' online store, several popular jersey sizes sold out quickly for several players as suppliers couldn't quite meet the substantial demand. Eagles fans last saw their team don these jerseys in 1995 -- after which the team adopted its current logo and "midnight green" color scheme.
The old-school uniforms are replicas of those the Eagles wore in the 1980s and 1990s. The team's old alternate logo appears on the sleeve, and the set also features a vintage helmet design as well as a retro font for the name and numbers.
When will the Eagles throwback unis be worn?
The Eagles announced not only the return of the Kelly Greens on Monday, but the team further confirmed the weeks in which they would be worn.
Philadelphia's Week 7 matchup against Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins will mark the uniforms' official return. The Week 12 matchup against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills - perhaps a potential Super Bowl preview - will be the second and final time in 2023 that Hurts, Brown, and company will walk out with the classic jerseys.
