If there's someone who has stolen the spotlight like never before during an NFL offseason, it's Shedeur Sanders. After being projected as a first-round draft pick, he mysteriously fell all the way to the fifth round, eventually being selected by the Cleveland Browns.
Sanders was ranked just below Cam Ward among quarterbacks. Ward ended up being the first overall pick in the Draft by the Tennessee Titans, while it was dramatic to watch Shedeur being ed over pick after pick, round after round. Even teams that needed quarterbacks rejected him - like the New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Today, Shedeur Sanders is competing with three other quarterbacks - not just for the starting job, but to even make the final roster for the NFL season. That's still a long way off. The competition is fierce with veterans Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.
Deion Sanders went all in against Head Coach Brian Daboll
A few days after the NFL Draft, it was leaked that Shedeur Sanders had interviews with theNew York Giants and Head Coach Brian Daboll - and the results were reportedly negative. It was said that Sanders failed the interview because he couldn't decipher an NFL playbook.
His father, Deion Sanders - who coached him at Colorado and is an NFL Hall of Famer - refused to believe those claims. Deion appeared on Asante Samuel's podcast Say What Needs To Be Said, where the former NFL star cornerback went off on Daboll.
"[Shedeur] walked into a meeting unprepared, just like that? Are we talking about Shedeur Sanders? The same guy who's had six different offensive coordinators and managed to adapt and improve every time we brought someone new in - and you're telling me he was unprepared?", told Deion Sanders.
NFL Network analyst Tom Pelissero was the first to report on how the Giants' interviews with Shedeur Sanders went. New York was one of the top favorites to select the former University of Colorado quarterback.
At the end of the first round of the Draft, the Giants traded up to select a quarterback - and chose Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss. Now Sanders has one of his biggest goals set: to shine in the NFL and prove not just the Giants wrong, but all 31 other teams that ed on him.
