Late Friday night, former USC Trojan and current Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Jordan Addison found himself in the wrong spotlight. According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Addison was arrested near LAX airport, not for making a spectacular catch, but for a far less glamorous reason-drunk driving.

At 11:10 p.m., law enforcement was called to the scene of a white Rolls-Royce obstructing several lanes near the bustling airport. When officers arrived, they discovered Addison, not exactly in game mode, but rather fast asleep in the driver's seat. The suspicion of DUI was strong enough that within 26 minutes, Addison was in handcuffs, his night taking a dramatic downturn from there. Two hours later, he was released from custody, left to contemplate his decisions.

This incident comes with a dark cloud hanging over the Vikings. Just two days prior, Addison's teammate Khyree Jackson tragically lost his life in a car crash involving another intoxicated driver. The timing couldn't be worse, adding a somber note to the team's pre-season preparations.

"We are aware of Jordan Addison's arrest this past Friday and are currently gathering more information regarding the incident," declared ESPN's Kevin Seifert.

Addison's promising career at risk

It's a stark contrast to the promising start Addison had in his NFL career. In his rookie season with the Vikings, he notched 70 catches for 911 yards and ten touchdowns. Analysts and fans alike have pegged him as one of the top young wide receivers in the league, envisioning a dynamic duo with Justin Jefferson that could torment defenses for years to come.

Addison's journey to the NFL started with two standout seasons at the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned First-team All-ACC honors in 2021 before transferring to USC and continuing his excellence with a First-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2022.

Yet, the bright lights of potential and promise can sometimes blind one to the pitfalls along the way. For Addison, this late-night misadventure is a wake-up call-a stark reminder that the path to greatness is as much about the choices off the field as the performances on it.
