Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is yet to make the final call on his NFL career but he will be meeting with neurologists soon for more tests.

Those tests are going to begin the decision-making process as to whether he needs to retire from the NFL or whether there is scope for him to carry on.

DailyMail.com revealed on Friday that the Dolphins are considering shutting him down for the year to give him time to properly decide on his future. The latest report from ESPN's Adam Schefter claims that the neurologist meeting will take place in the next few days.

Tagovailoa has suffered a number of concussions and bashes to the head during his career and it has been reported that the QB wants 'input into the severity of his latest concussion, and the cumulative effect of the ones he's suffered in the past.'

He suffered a really big hit during the Week 2 loss against the Buffalo Bills which has added more severity to the situation.

He was able to leave the field on his own feet but he was later diagnosed with a concussion, which comes after he suffered two concussions in the 2022 season. A third hit to the head that year prompted a change in the NFL's concussion protocols.

A history of concussion

Tagovailoa also got a concussion in his final year of college, so many think he now needs to retire for the good of his future and for his family's sake.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said: "You're talking about his career - his career is his. I just wish that people would for a second hear what I'm saying, that bringing up his future is not in the best interest of him.

"So, I'm going to plead with everybody that does genuinely care that that should be the last thing on your mind."
