Thursday night was nothing short of a catastrophe for the Miami Dolphins. The team came out flat, falling behind by two touchdowns going into halftime. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa then threw his third interception of the game, which the Buffalo Bills defense returned for a pick-six.

As if things couldn't get worse, Tagovailoa suffered a scary concussion on the ensuing drive, giving fans flashbacks of the terrifying string of head injuries he endured in 2022. He is now out indefinitely, as head coach Mike McDaniel and the front office need to do what's best for him; that could mean shutting him down for good, although he will likely want to continue playing.

Tua Tagovailoa hit that sent him into concussion protocol

The fear of Tagovailoa being unable to take another snap this season is real given his history. In that case, Skylar Thompson would ascend to the starting job, but fans don't think he can win games consistently.

Could Dolphins trade for Jimmy Garoppolo?

Free agents like Ryan Tannehill, a former Dolphin, and Blaine Gabbert have been named. But could it be that McDaniel might beg the front office to trade for Jimmy Garoppolo? McDaniel was with Jimmy G on the San Francisco 49ers from 2017 to 2021. In that final season together, McDaniel was the team's offensive coordinator.

Garoppolo was never outstanding with the Niners, but he would be an upgrade over Thompson. And the connection with McDaniel makes a reuniting plausible.

Of course, the move would have to come via a trade. Jimmy G is currently with the Los Angeles Rams, and the team would likely not give him up for chump change.
