Safe to say that Super Bowl LIX didn't play out as the Kansas City Chiefs had hoped.
Patrick Mahomes and company were looking to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowl championships, with the quarterback and coach Andy Reid hoping to cement their status as all-time greats.
However, those hopes were quickly dashed once the Chiefs took the field against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs had their worst performance in some time, with Mahomes under pressure every time he dropped back.
In the end he turned the ball over three times, while Reid had no answers in of in-game adjustments. As a result the Chiefs fell in lopsided fashion, with plenty of statistics providing context as to how poor Kansas City played.
Kendrick Lamar was more prolific than the Chiefs
One statistics that really shows how poor the Chiefs played involves Kendrick Lamar.
The rapper dazzled by performing during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, and as per Rap daily, he traveled over 145 yards during his performance. That number is about three times more than the Chiefs' rushing output for the game as per USA Today's Cory Woodroof.
Adding to that, Lamar's performance lasted over 13 minutes. The Chiefs were listed to just 10:01 in of time of possession in the first half.
During that time they gained just 23 total offensive yards snd one first down with an average of 1.2 yards per play. Compare that to the Eagles, who gained 179 yards and 12 first downs with an average of 4.6 yards per play, which helped them build a 24-0 lead, and you can see how one sided things were.
In the end the Chiefs finished with just 11 rushing attempts, and only seven of them were designed runs. The other four came off of scrambled by Mahomes, who gained 25 yards.
Not to mention the fact that the Chiefs offense didn't cross midfield until there were less than three minutes remaining in the third quarter. However, by that time its unclear how many Kansas City fans were still even tuning in.
