Mahomes' injury happened during a critical fourth-and-3 play with just over five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

As the pocket collapsed, Mahomes attempted a desperate under heavy pressure but was hit high and low by multiple defenders.

The hit bent his body awkwardly, leaving him limping and struggling to get back on his feet.

After a noticeable delay, he made his way to the sidelines, favoring his left leg.

Medical staff attended to Mahomes on the bench, taping both ankles.

However, sideline reports indicated the right ankle was the primary concern.

Despite his determination to stay in the game, head coach Andy Reid opted to sideline him in favor of backup Carson Wentz.

"I wanted to go back out there, and I probably would've fought harder if the game was closer,"Mahomes said after the game.

"It was a smart decision to rest."

Postgame reports confirmed a high ankle sprain but ruled out a fracture.

Reid described his star quarterback as "day-to-day," leaving uncertainty about his availability for the game against the Houston Texans.

Although the Chiefs secured a 21-7 win and improved to 13-1, the victory was overshadowed by concerns over Mahomes' health.

His performance before the injury-19 completions on 38 attempts for 159 yards and two touchdowns-showed signs of the team's offensive struggles, which could worsen if Mahomes misses time.

With three games in a 10-day span, the Chiefs face a tough stretch.

As fans await further updates, Mahomes' condition will be pivotal for Kansas City's playoff aspirations.

For now, the NFL community hopes for a swift recovery for one of the league's brightest stars.
