Chiefs set to get major boost to struggling offense with player Patrick Mahomes calls 'special'

Kansas City is coming off of its first loss of the season.

It finally happened. After going nine games without losing a single time, the Kansas City Chiefs' perfect season came to a screeching halt in Buffalo last weekend at the hands of the Bills. The Chiefs had escaped some close calls throughout this season, with seven of their nine wins coming in a one-score game. Ultimately, the Bills are too good at home, and they showed their class.

Once again, Patrick Mahomes had a very up-and-down game. Although he threw three touchdowns, he also threw two interceptions, something that has been an issue all season. Without a doubt, the ing offense has been the team's biggest Achilles heel through their first 10 games. It seemed to be on an upwards trend lately, but there are still issues.

Andy Reid has tried to get several different receivers involved in order to get the offense humming, but his ideas have come up short to this point. Sometimes, in order for the ing game to open up, the running game needs to be respected. Although Kareem Hunt has filled in irably, his 3.7 yards per carry isn't lighting the world on fire.

Isiah Pacheco slated to return and give jolt to Chiefs offense

Thankfully for the Chiefs, starting running back Isiah Pacheco is all but set to make his return from injury in Week 12 against the Carolina Panthers. On Wednesday, he returned to practice.

Pacheco hasn't played since Week 2, having suffered a fractured fibula that required surgery during the Chiefs' win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

When talking about Pacheco's return, Mahomes seemed excited about getting his starter back, and pairing him with Hunt.

"Then adding [Pacheco], who we know is going to bring excitement, and he's going to have energy and he's going to make big plays happen and run tough. I think it's going to be hard for defenses to for them. And as well as you get the run game going, it opens up the game as well. And so I'm excited for him, man. I'm excited to get guys healthy, get them back in the swing of things, and let them go out there and be the special players that they are."
