The Kansas City Chiefs are the current Super Bowl champions and in the last few years have become one of the NFL powerhouses, probably building a dynasty on the shoulders of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and head coach Andy Reed.
The person who oversaw the Chiefs' complete overhaul was Clark Hunt, co-owner, chairman, and CEO of the franchise. He took over the team after the death of his father Lamar Hunt in 2006, who founded the team in 1959.
How did Clark Hunt make his money?
According to sources, Clark Hunt is worth around $2 billion in 2023. The Hunt family as a whole is worth around $15.5 billion, as his grandfather, H.L. Hunt, was an oil tycoon during the early 20th Century, ing his fortune to his 15 children, one of them being Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt.
The Chiefs franchise is valued by Forbes at $3.7 billion in 2022, being ranked 23rd among NFL franchises, doubling its value since 2016 after winning multiple Super Bowls and having arguably the league's best player in Patrick Mahomes.
Hunt's other ventures
Hunt is chairman of Hunt Sports Group, which owns the Chiefs, MLS side FC Dallas, and previously Columbus Crew.
Under his leadership, the Chiefs have made the playoffs nine times, won the AFC West eight times (seven consecutive), and appeared in three Super Bowls, winning two.
