It is, yet again, a crucial season for the Dallas Cowboys. A year after going 7-10 and failing to make it to the NFC Championship game for the 29th season in a row, Jerry Jones uprooted the team, parting ways with head coach Mike McCarthy and starting anew with Brian Schottenheimer at the helm.
Following a strong draft, fans have started gaining some hope once again. They have an established quarterback in Dak Prescott, George Pickens should form a dynamic duo with CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons should get his big contract extension before the season begins. Players seem to be responding well to Schottenheimer, their new head coach, as well. But just as everything began feeling rosy, a rift between Scottenheimer and Prescott may have formed.
Brian Schottenheimer makes eye-opening comment about Dak Prescott still developing
While speaking to the media in a press conference during OTAs, Schottenheimer revealed that he believes Prescott is still "in the developmental phase" of his career. His comments come after speaking about how backup quarterbacks are always developing, but it's a shocking statement when he says it about Prescott.
Fans were naturally stunned by the comments, rightly pointing out that Prescott is going into his 10th season in the NFL and is literally the highest-paid quarterback in the league. To it that Dak is still developing showcases a lack of trust in his ability on part of the coaching staff, while also making Jones look bad that he gave that type of QB a record-setting contract.
