- NFL. Jerry Jones gets the last laugh: Cowboys are still America's Team and ticket prices prove it
- NFL. NFL unveils 2025 schedule: Which is the league's most in-demand team?
The previous season was very challenging for the Dallas Cowboys after losing their quarterback Dak Prescott to injury during the first half of the season. With a record of 7-10, Jerry Jones' team missed the playoffs and had to watch as the Philadelphia Eagles were crowned champions.
It wasn't just the Eagles-Washington Commanders, led by quarterback Jayden Daniels, also took a major step forward, making a name for themselves in the NFL and eventually facing Philadelphia in the NFC Championship game. Given how things played out last year, the 2025 season will be very tough for the Cowboys in the NFC East Division.
Even so, the Cowboys have done a decent job during the offseason, especially in the Draft, selecting Tyler Booker. After Zack Martin's retirement, the offensive line will be well-covered by the rookie from Alabama. Additionally, they surprised many a few days ago by making a trade for wide receiver George Pickens from the Steelers, who will fill a major gap and pair up with CeeDee Lamb.
The second half of the Cowboys' season could be brutal
To make matters worse, the Dallas Cowboys will face the reigning champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, in the 2025 NFL season opener-a game in which they are clear underdogs according to betting odds. Still, it may be the first glimpse at what the offense looks like with George Pickens now in place.
But the second half of the season looks extremely tough and could determine the future of many within the franchise-most notably, that of quarterback Dak Prescott. The next draft class features some intriguing quarterback prospects, led by Arch Manning and Drew Allar.
From Week 12 to Week 17, the Dallas Cowboys will face only teams that won more than 11 games last season and, of course, made the playoffs.
Dallas will face the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Chargers, and Washington Commanders-a stretch of the season that could very well end the Cowboys' playoff hopes.
Additionally, the Cowboys will become the first team in NFL history to play six consecutive games against teams that each had 11 or more wins the previous season. It will be interesting to see how Dallas fares. According to sportsbooks, the over/under for their win total is set at 7.5, suggesting that they are underdogs in the playoff race.
