There's no doubt that the Dallas Cowboys did a great job in acquiring George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers via trade, as a wide receiver was a major need to address. Jerry Jones and the front office surprised everyone last week by landing a very talented receiver.

The Dallas Cowboys have quietly done a good job. While fans may have been expecting a big splash in the Draft-like getting a wide receiver with the 12th pick-the team instead selected offensive guard Tyler Booker from Alabama, who will likely be an immediate starter. This move addressed a very important need following the retirement of Zack Martin, a future Hall of Famer.

The team is gradually rebuilding, although time is not on Dak Prescott's side. Despite his massive contract, the quarterback will have to perform wonders to compete in the NFC East, a division currently dominated by the reigning champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Washington Commanders, who have made significant strides in becoming competitive in the NFL.

The Dallas Cowboys don't view George Pickens as a WR2

Today, Dallas Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones gave an interview with Adam Schein of Mad Dog Sports Radio, where he discussed how the team views Pickens. He also spoke more about the team's new receiver with Albert Breer of SI.com.

"He's simply a dynamic receiver," said Jones. "Everyone says we're looking for a number two. But George can be a number one. He has that kind of talent. He has incredible ability to track the ball. He's very explosive and a fierce competitor. And we love that-he plays aggressively, and we think he'll be a great fit for our team."

On the other hand, Pickens commented that at the moment he's not seeking a contract extension and is only focused on giving his best with the Dallas Cowboys. While with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he showed flashes of being a top NFL receiver, although his behavior wasn't always ideal. Nevertheless, there's no doubt that if he fully taps into his talent, he could become one of the league's next multimillionaires.
