Cowboys fans, it's been a rollercoaster of a season, hasn't it? Sitting at 7-8 heading into Week 16, the Dallas Cowboys have officially been eliminated from playoff contention. It's not the outcome anyone hoped for, and the mood in the locker room reflects that. Tensions are running high as players and staff grapple with what's next. But amidst the disappointment, some intriguing news has surfaced that could shape the team's future.
During an appearance on 105.3 The FAN, Stephen Jones, the Cowboys' Executive Vice President and son of Jerry Jones, addressed the potential re-g of four key players: DT Osa Odighizuwa, CB Jourdan Lewis, DE Chauncey Golston, and RB Rico Dowdle. These players are set to become free agents in 2025, and fans were eager to hear the team's stance on their futures.
Stephen Jones didn't hold back, saying, "We want them back. They've shown that they are Dallas Cowboys football players." He also acknowledged the challenge of navigating the salary cap, adding, "They're certainly guys we want to have back; it's just making all the calculus work when it comes to fitting everybody under the salary cap."

And why wouldn't the Cowboys want to hold onto these talents? Osa Odighizuwa has been a standout on the defensive line, amassing 42 total tackles, including 23 solo tackles. Meanwhile, Jourdan Lewis has been a model of consistency over the past two seasons and ranks among the league's best in metrics like average depth of target allowed (6.6) and defensive stops.
Chauncey Golston has also been making waves with his defensive efforts, solidifying himself as a key player on the line. Then there's Rico Dowdle, who's been electrifying on offense with back-to-back 100+ yard rushing games. It's no wonder the front office is eager to keep these players around.
However, while these four stars are earning praise, there's bittersweet news regarding CeeDee Lamb. The star receiver has been sidelined for the final two games due to an AC t sprain he's been battling for weeks. Coach Mike McCarthy commended Lamb's grit, saying, "He's crushed that he's not playing these last two games. It just shows the competitor he is." Though frustrated, Lamb understands that this decision is in his best interest and that of the team.
