It's a rough time to be a Dallas Cowboys fan. While every other major professional sports team in the region is riding high on success, the Cowboys have once again failed to make it past the first round of the playoffs, extending their championship game drought to nearly three decades.

The Dallas Mavericks are the latest to shine, clinching a spot in the Western Conference Finals after dispatching the Oklahoma City Thunder in a hard-fought six-game series. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving led the charge, with Doncic's triple-double performance in the final game sealing the deal. "They're going to talk about me and Kyrie, but no, it was the team," Doncic said post-game, deflecting praise to his teammates like PJ Washington and rookie sensation Lively.

Not to be outdone, the Dallas Stars have also made headlines, advancing to the NHL's conference finals just this past week. Their playoff run has the city buzzing with excitement, as they aim to bring home the Stanley Cup.

Adding to the city's sports triumphs, the Texas Rangers (based in Dallas) captured their first-ever World Series title last year, defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Rangers' victory was a historic moment for the franchise and a huge source of pride for Dallas sports fans.

Cowboys' playoff woes

In stark contrast, the Cowboys have struggled mightily. Their last championship appearance was in 1995, and despite entering many seasons as contenders, they've managed just four playoff wins in the past 25 years. This season was no different. Favored to beat the Green Bay Packers in the first round, the Cowboys were instead embarrassed by Jordan Love and his squad.

Head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott are under immense pressure to turn things around. Another playoff failure could prompt owner Jerry Jones to make significant changes.

As the Mavericks prepare to face either the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals, Dallas fans have a lot to cheer for, except when it comes to football. The city is experiencing a sports renaissance in everything but the NFL. Will the Cowboys finally end their drought, or will they continue to be the outlier in a city full of champions? Only time will tell.
