All eyes are on what Shedeur Sanders does-or doesn't do. It's hard to a time when the Cleveland Browns had this much attention from the entire NFL. Historically, the team has made poor decisions, which is why they've struggled to climb out of mediocrity. It often seems like they're moving forward, only to keep making the same mistakes.

One of the Browns' clearest mistakes in recent years was essentially letting go of Baker Mayfield-the quarterback who gave the team its first playoff win in 26 years back in 2020-in order to sign Deshaun Watson to a fully guaranteed $230 million deal. Watson has been a complete disappointment and is currently injured.

It's unlikely that Watson will suit up for the Browns again, despite making a significant effort to recover from a double Achilles tendon injury. As of now, head coach Kevin Stefanski is focused on Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders.

Joe Flacco has a strong history with the Browns

Since Joe Flacco left the Baltimore Ravens in 2018 to make way for Lamar Jackson, he has been with five different NFL teams-including the Cleveland Browns in 2023, where he had a spectacular end to the season.

What would a successful season look like for Shedeur Sanders

Flacco played in five games at the end of that campaign, winning all five for the Browns. He threw for 13 touchdowns and 1,616 ing yards. The team made it to the playoffs but lost in the Wild Card round to the Houston Texans.

After that run, Flacco signed in free agency with the Indianapolis Colts, where he had an up-and-down stint. Now, he's back with the Browns-not as a mentor, but to compete and be Cleveland's starting quarterback in 2025.

"It's a cool place, and the last time I was here, you could feel it. It's a city that loves football and is hungry for wins, and that's what got to me... we won games. I'm working hard to put us in the best position-to put myself in the best position-to go out there and win football games," said Flacco.

Despite all the noise surrounding Shedeur Sanders,if things stay on track, the quarterback under center in Week 1 when the Browns face Joe Burrow and the Bengals will be Joe Flacco. He's expected to begin the season as the starter.
