Arch Manning's father stunned as Heid makes Bill Belichick laugh at quarterback camp

As Arch prepares to lead Texas football, his younger brother Heid charms the Manning ing Academy

The spotlight has firmly been on Arch Manning as he steps into the starting quarterback role at the University of Texas, but his younger brother Heid Manning has quietly - and hilariously - stolen a bit of that attention.

While Arch's rise through the football ranks has been well documented, Heid is forging a different path in Austin - one filled with friendship, college life, and surprising comedic timing.

Heid, the youngest son of Cooper Manning, started his freshman year at UT just as Arch was preparing for his biggest role yet on the field. Unlike his quarterback-heavy family, Heid isn't pursuing football. Instead, he's embracing a more traditional college experience, from ing a fraternity to soaking in campus life.

But he still made headlines this summer during the annual Manning ing Academy, a summer tradition that draws quarterbacks and receivers from across the country - along with NFL legends and coaching icons.

Assigned to chauffeur none other than Bill Belichick around the event, Heid took the opportunity to do more than just drive the legendary coach - he decided he would try to make him laugh. And against all odds, he did.

"When he told me that was his goal, I quickly told him to pick another goal," Cooper Manning shared on the Under the Number podcast. "Coach Bill's not gonna just warm up to you in a hurry."

But Heid had a plan - and a sense of humor - that even his dad didn't see coming.

A perfectly timed joke cracks Belichick's stoic exterior

Heid's moment came during a routine golf cart ride with Belichick. But instead of keeping quiet or playing it safe, he cracked a joke at his dad's expense - and it landed.

"He made fun of me [Cooper] in just the right timing and Belichick got a little snicker," Cooper recalled. "Heid walked off, I think he might have left camp with just high-fiving everybody as if mission accomplished."

Getting a laugh from Belichick, known for his famously reserved demeanor and short press conferences, is no small feat. It's the kind of moment that showcases Heid's natural charisma - something his father is clearly proud of.

"Heid is a very funny boy, and he is destined to be behind a microphone," Cooper said. "In some fashion in his life, I think sales or some sort of comedy probably around the corner."

While Arch has shouldered the weight of continuing the Manning quarterback legacy, Heid has become a reminder that not all Mannings are defined by touchdowns and playbooks. Cooper described his youngest as the "wild card" of the family - the one who keeps everyone grounded with laughter and light-heartedness.

"He can run point and distract and kind of take away a lot of the attention that Arch gets and put it on him. And therefore, Arch can just kind of blend in. So they are great brothers," Cooper explained.

The Mannings may be football royalty, but Heid is proving there's room in the family narrative for charm, wit, and authenticity. Whether he ends up in comedy, media, or any other stage, he's already shown he can steal the show - even when sharing a golf cart with one of football's most intimidating figures.
