The surprising and controversial fall to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft of Shedeur Sanders continues to raise eyebrows and continues to baffle the sports world.

The former Colorado Buffaloes QB had to wait until the third day of the Draft and was selected as the 144th pick by Cleveland Browns. However, he is not the only one who had to wait to be chosen and then leave everyone with their mouths open with his value and talent.

The one who didn't need to be picked No. 1 to succeed was Tom Brady himself. The legend was chosen by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2000 Draft, with the 199th overall selection. Despite this, in his career he won 7 Super Bowl rings and today he is considered the GOAT of the NFL.

But, despite this, both have been the center of criticism during the process and, even today and despite their legacy, the name "Tom Brady" continues to sound amidst it.

This, according to NFL legend LeSean McCoy, is a clue to Sanders' future. On the Monday, May 26 episode of "The Facility" podcast, he commented on Shedeur's chances for success.

From his experience as a player and as a former teammate of Brady's with whom he won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, McCoy highlighted a strong similarity between the rookie and the legend:

You seen his work ethic; everything you head about him is not true. Don't let the jewelry, and the music, and the swagger fool you. He a hard worker. First thing the head coach said, 'Hey, he's the first one in the building, he's the last one to leave.' Sounds like someone else I know, his name as Brady.

The fight for the starting job in Cleveland

McCoy's remarks are intended to provide clarity for Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski. The truth is that with five options for QB1, a difficult decision lies before them and the option of releasing one of them is not being ruled out.

Shedeur Sanders is ed by Dillon Gabriel, who was acquired by the Browns during the third round of the Draft, is one of their competitors.

In addition, options include Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, who were already with the team, and Deshaun Watson who is recovering from his Achilles injury and was the QB1 before his injury.

And although Sanders has shown great results, the Browns, at the moment do not have a clear starter.
