- NFL. Simone Biles shows deep connection with Jonathan Owens through heartfelt message
Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles are one of the it-couples of 2024, with their respective sporting backgrounds making them appear a perfect match.
However, the couple has faced hardships, with the most recent coming as a direct result of Hurricane Beryl, which has ripped through Texas over the past week.
Biles and Owens are currently in the process of constructing a two-million-dollar mansion in Houston, the area which has been hit the worst by the adverse weather.
Hurricane Beryl hit the Texas coast near Matagorda as a powerful Category 1 storm. It brought wind gusts exceeding 90 mph, a 3ft6in storm surge, and torrential rain, leading to widespread flooding and submerged vehicles.
The storm resulted in 2.7 million power outages, uprooted homes, and disrupted lives, and it left Owens particularly moved.
What did Jonathan Owens say?
Jonathan Owens took to Instagram to share his perspective on the disaster. He reposted a photo from the Houston Chronicle showing flooded streets and fallen trees.
"Hurricane Beryl came down on the Houston region and south Texas Monday, bringing heavy rain, flooding, and damage to the area," Owens captioned.
"Praying for everyone without power still. I couldn't imagine with this heat. Stay safe."
As recovery and cleanup efforts continue in southeast Texas, especially in the Houston area, a scorching heatwave has settled in, adding to the challenges.
According to data published by the BBC, eight people have died in the United States as a direct result of Hurricane Beryl, whilst the Caribbean has seen 10 deaths.
The comparative lack of infrastructure in Jamaica compared to the United States has seen a much more devastating impact as a result of the hurricane. It is likely that it will take Jamaica residents far longer to rebuild and get back on their feet.
