Michael Irvin sent an emotional message to the iconic Randy Moss as the ex-Minnesota Vikings' wide receiver reveals he has cancer and he's stepping back from ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown.

The 47-year-old seems cautiously hopeful about his odds as he says he wants to be back on the show when he feels healthy again, perhaps suggesting the prognosis isn't terminal, but it's sad new for fans who watched him score 156 touchdowns from 1998-2012.

Nonetheless, the diagnosis and revelation has everyone emotional and that includes the three-time Super Bowl champion, Irvin, who sent a very kind message to Moss via Instagram and calls for him to be strong.

"You know I love you," Irvin says in the video to the ex-New England Patriot. "You know we're pulling for you, brother. Stay strong. Be strong. Like you always have been. Love you."

Irvin is known for being quite the character and the video was no different as it featured a shirtless chef walking around his kitchen in his home as he spoke to the camera, and he also seemed to make an unusual reference to P Diddy.

"This is a serious message to my great friend and @ProFootballHOF TEAMMATE @RandyMoss," Irvin said in a caption to X.com, formerly Twitter, before referencing the disgraced music executive. "........pay no attention (and no diddy) (PAUSE) to my crazy chef in the background!!!"

Moss undergoes cancer removal surgery

Anyhow, Moss is well into treatment for the disease, and revealed it has impacted his bile duct which is located between the liver and the pancreas and recently went through a six-hour surgery to remove the tumor.

He will then continue chemotherapy and radiation treatments in his bid to return to his normal quality of living, and then he can look to resuming his career with ESPN as the network's pundit and analyst.
