- NCAA. Jordon Hudson's emotional apology as Bill Belichick drama continues
Bill Belichick continues to be in the eye of the storm over his relationship with Jordon Hudson.
The coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels has been in the spotlight for his controversies with his 24-year-old girlfriend. And this time is no exception.
And his former quarterback, Cam Newton did not hesitate to mention that he does not like to see how the six-time champion becomes "a city boy," and commented on what many think but do not say:
I'm going to be the one to say it.... Hate me, despise me, but somebody got to keep it real: Date your age.
In addition, the 36-year-old Carolina Panthers legend warned that the scandal the 73-year-old coach is now going through could have been avoided if he dated someone his age, ideally no more than 10 years older or younger, someone like his ex-wife, Linda Holliday.
Bill and Linda spent 16 years together and she didn't miss a single one of his 6 wins. Cam ed the 62-year-old fondly, calling her a "radiant and attractive brunette," to him, she the perfect match for Belichick and kept him out of spot ligths.
The controversy continues to grow
The truth is that Hudson's role in Bill's professional and personal life is being questioned and could even affect his future as a coach.
Despite g a five-year, $50 million dollar contract with the Tar Heels, it is not certain that he will ever coach a game in Chapel Hill due to the constant presence of his girlfriend in his life and that of the team.
Recently, the couple made headlines after Hudson was apparently kicked off the Tar Heels' campus. Apparently, the young woman is overly concerned with the former New England Patriots coach's affairs and this has affected the team and its dynamic.
However, after the fact, the North Carolina team issued a statement to let Bill's publicist know that she is welcome. "While Jordon Hudson is not an employee of the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome at Carolina Football facilities," the university said in the statement.
In addition, they made it known that "Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick's branding beyond her responsibilities with Carolina Football and the University."
Adding to the controversy is a detail in his contract: on June 1 of this year, the termination clause is reduced from $10 million to $1 million. Will he use that date as a lifeline if the situation at UNC becomes untenable?
