Billionaire investor and Shark Tank star Mark Cuban, once an outspoken er of Vice President Kamala Harris, has now distanced himself from his endorsement, even going so far as to delete pro-Harris comments from his social media.
Cuban, who initially ed Harris with enthusiasm, took to X (formerly Twitter) on election night to concede defeat, congratulating both President-elect Donald Trump and tech mogul Elon Musk, one of Trump's most influential backers.
The concession message, posted around 1:30 a.m. on election night, caught many by surprise as Cuban was one of the first high-profile Democrats to publicly acknowledge Harris's loss while swing states continued to turn red.
At that time, Harris's path to victory was narrowing rapidly, with Trump leading in battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona, which would ultimately go red.
Cuban was the first to it defeat
"Congrats @realDonaldTrump. You won fair and square. Congrats to @ElonMusk as well," Cuban wrote. For the businessman, this concession signified a growing discomfort with his political affiliations. However, his decision to remove his pro-Harris comments sparked backlash online, with s questioning his commitment and motives.
Cuban defended his actions, explaining, "I've always gone back and deleted tweets... For years. Same with the 2020 election. 2016 election. Same with other stuff." He added that there are websites that archive his deleted tweets for anyone interested in his past posts.
Cuban was a faithful ally of Trump
Once a Trump er himself, Cuban's political journey has been complex, having endorsed Trump in 2016 before "growing out of it," due to what he described as an inability to engage in constructive conversations with the former president.
Now, Cuban's political reset has him at odds with his previous positions, leaving some to question where he'll land next. Despite the backlash, Cuban's early acknowledgment of Trump's victory earned him some unexpected praise, with fans of the former president commending his "mature response" and gracious concession.
