Step 2 (14-30 days) - Initial Review

A Veteran Service Representative (VSR) examines your claim to ensure all necessary information is included. If no additional details or clarifications are required, the claim advances to Step 3.

Step 3 (30-60 days) - Gathering Evidence

The VSR requests ing documents from various sources, including you, your healthcare providers, and government agencies. This phase may also include a Compensation & Pension (C&P) examination. Once the evidence is collected, the claim is forwarded to the Rating Veterans Service Representative (RVSR).

Step 4 (7-14 days) - Evidence Review

The RVSR assesses the gathered evidence. If additional information is needed, your claim returns to Step 3 for further documentation. The VA will maintain communication with you throughout this process.

Step 5 (7-14 days) - Decision Preparation

Once all necessary evidence is obtained, the RVSR thoroughly reviews your application and recommends a decision, preparing the required documentation to the determination.

Step 6 (7-14 days) - Pending Decision Approval

The RVSR makes a preliminary award decision, which is then reviewed by a higher-level authority for final approval.

Step 7 (7-14 days) - Notification Preparation
