'The Little Mermaid': 2023 Oscars give us first full look at new live-action film

The very anticipated Little Mermaid live-action musical is scheduled to hit theaters on May 26, 2023 and viewers at the 2023 Oscars got to enjoy its first full-length trailer.

Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy, who play Ariel and Ursula, respectively, took to the stage at the 95th Academy Awards to give the audience and viewers at home the first trailer for the live-action adaptation of the Disney 1989 classic.

First peek at Javier Bardem as King Triton and McCarthy as Ursula

While a teaser had been previously released, the trailer premiered at the Oscars gave us the first look at Javier Bardem as King Triton and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.

McCarthy kicked off the speech by celebrating Disney's 100 years: "For the past century, the Walt Disney Company has given us some of the greatest storylines, villains and heroes of all -time". Bailey, meanwhile, added to her sentiment: "I fully agree. It has been the greatest honor to step into the iconic role of Ariel".
