Pedro Pascal tooks his popularity to international waves with his performance as Joel Miller, hardened middle-aged survivor that was one of the main characters of The Last of Us television series.
The faithful adaptation of the popular video game franchise captured the attention of millions of people, with Pascal earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in A Drama Series in 2023.
"It's a juicy premise, but what makes 'The Last of Us' such gripping television is that it understands the real monsters Joel and Ellie must face aren't zombies: It's other people willing to do whatever it takes to live another day," critic Miles Surrey wrote about season 1.
Pedro Pascal makes a provocative gesture
Season 2 of the very popular HBO Max adaptation premiered on April 13 and it has already giving the fans some intense moments - particularly one that everyone who has played the video game knew it was going to happen -, and Pedro Pascal took the opportunity to share some behind the scenes photos of his role on it.
"There's no place like Canada," wrote the actor on Instagram, in reference to the country where they shot the show. However, it was a video that he posted that took social media by storm because of a provocative gesture Pedro had on a wrap party.
We can see Pascal holding a light stick with the colors of the rainbow as he's in a DJ booth next to an unidentified man. As the actor is getting his groove on, he gets the stick and licks it, teasing the people that were witnessing the scene. He gets a roar from the crowd as he continues to play with the stick in a moment that sparked comments in social media.
"Ok no, he needs to stop, like the yearning is getting unmanageable," wrote an X . "He always does the same hip shake hehe. The licking was... unique," noted somebody else. "You can take the boy away from gogo dancing, but not the gogo dancing from the boy," added another X .
Pascal has a lot of fun at Cannes
Pedro Pascal was part of the Cannes Film Festival as he promoted his latest movie, "Eddington," directed by acclaimed director, screenwriter and producer Ari Aster, and starring Academy Award winner Joaquin Phoenix, Hollywood superstar and Oscar winner Emma Stone, and movie sensation Austin Butler.
The movie follows the political and social turmoil in a fictional city of Eddington, New Mexico, caused by the covid-19 pandemic. "Eddington" premiered at the main competition of the Cannes Film Festival, and will be released in theaters on July 18.
Filmed in Albuquerque, "Eddington" unfolds with tight, elliptical direction, replete with silences and narrative gaps, with the director playing carefully with light and sound. "It suits me to be seen as a horror movie director," he its in 2023, "but I know this label will be more difficult to apply to my future projects.
