- Celebrities. Diddy trial takes unexpected turn: The Cassie Ventura testimony that shocked and changes the story
Cassie Ventura's husband Alex Fine defended his partner after the four-day emotional testimony against Sean Diddy Combs in the high-profile sex trafficking trial.
The couple, who married in 2019, have faced an emotional whirlwind as the pop star, who is eight months pregnant, recounted the trauma she allegedly suffered during her tumultuous relationship with the music mogul, RadarOnline.com reported.
Fine's emotional statement, read by lawyer Douglas Wigdor, said: "In the last five days, the world has witnessed the strength and bravery of my wife, freeing herself from her past.
"There has been speculation online as to how I must feel hearing my wife's testimony. I have felt so many things sitting there," he added.
But while dealing with the difficult emotions, Fine found moments to feel proud, pointing out that: "I have felt tremendous pride and immense love for Cass".
After also expressing his "deep anger" at the man who subjected his wife to years of abuse, Fine addressed Diddy directly.
You didn't break her spirit or the smile that lights up every room. You didn't break the soul of a mother who gives the best hugs and plays with our daughters. You didn't break the woman who has made me a better man.
The emotional burden of the testimony left Fine with mixed feelings
Fine made it clear that Ventura's strength was the result of her own effort and determination.
"I didn't save Cassie, as some have said. To say that is an insult to the years of hard work my wife has put in to save herself. Cassie saved Cassie. She alone freed herself from abuse, coercion, violence and threats. She fought the demons that only a demon could have inflicted on her," he explained.
The singer's husband ended his statement by expressing his gratitude for the immense they have received, stating that they are now focused on moving forward.
"Her life is now filled with love, laughter and our family. This horrific chapter is now firmly behind her forever."
He also asked for privacy as they prepare to welcome their third child into a world "that is now safer thanks to his mother".
