The 911 call made by a maintenance worker who discovered the bodies of Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa has been released, shedding further light on the mysterious deaths.
TMZ obtained audio of the phone call just hours after the deaths were announced, with the employee frantically begging emergency responders to get to the house in sante Fe, New Mexico.
The name of the man making the phone call was redacted but he told the operator that he found the bodies of 'one or two people in the house'.
"Please send somebody really quick," he begged.
As the dispatcher paused to call for the paramedics, the caller began crying while repeatedly saying, "Damn."
It soon became clear that the caller did not have any personal connection to Hackman and Arakawa.
"[It's] a female and a male probably. I don't know, sir. Just send somebody up here really quick," he said.
The caller said he had "no idea" if the two were "awake" or "breathing" because he "was not inside the house" with them.
"[The house] is closed. It's locked. I can't go in," he said. "But I see that she is lying down on the floor from the window."
He insisted they were not "awake" or "alert" and saw no signs of movement.
"No, dude, they're not moving!" he said while growing increasingly concerned. "Just send somebody out here really quick!"
A mysterious double-death
The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office confirmed that there were no signs of foul play, but the exact cause of death has not been disclosed as investigations continue.
Hackman's contributions to cinema were unparalleled. His powerful performances and versatility made him one of the most respected actors of his time.
With five Academy Award nominations and two wins-for The French Connection (1971) and Unforgiven (1992)-his legacy was cemented in Hollywood history.
Arakawa was a talented classical pianist and was 63 years old at the time of her death.
