The IFFHS proclaims Messi as 'the best of all time'... and there is already controversy

messi is the number one in history, at least for the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), which last weekend drew up its ranking of the 10 best players of all time. And of course, the controversy has erupted in all forums in a discussion that is very footballing and lawful

The ranking was based on individual and collective statistics of all the players in question. Messi (Barcelona, PSG, Inter Miami and Argentina) has 46 titles in total, apart from individual ones (eight Ballon d'Ors, among others). He is the most decorated footballer in the history of the game: 35 with Barcelona; three with PSG; two with Inter Miami, and six with Argentina (all categories).

Second place is held by Brazilian Pele, the player with the most World Cups in history (1958, 1962 and 1970), while third is Diego Maradona, who, like Messi, reached one World Cup (1986) and one runner-up (1990), among many other merits with his clubs

Many have criticized Cristiano Ronaldo's position (fourth). It is true that he is the top scorer in history (935 official goals so far), but he never won a World Cup, although he did win many trophies with Real Madrid and a European Championship (2016) with Portugal.

Among the top 10, there is no Spaniard, but there are three Argentines (including Di Stefano as such) and three Brazilians (Pele, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho).
