The news in Mexican boxing this Thursday is the possible positive doping test of Jaime Munguia after his victory over Bruno Surace on May 3 in Saudi Arabia.

A day after the fight, the Tijuana fighter took the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association test, known as VADA, and the A sample tested positive for the presence of testosterone metabolites, a banned substance.

"I am as surprised as all of you with what is happening with the doping test. I feel very calm, very sure of my preparation, of everything I did. I want to tell everyone that I am a clean athlete, the truth is I am not afraid of anything, I know that I have done things and I am willing to do all the necessary tests to prove that I am a clean athlete," he shared in a video on his Instagram .

On the same social network, he added in a statement that "I will not make any further comment on this matter until this process has been completed with the results of the B Test".

Jaime Munguia could be suspended

Now, awaiting the result of sample B, Jaime Munguia could have several problems if the second analysis also yields an adverse result.

First, his victory over Bruno Surace would be annulled, which might be the least of his worries, as he could face a suspension if the VADA test is positive again and a possible fine, according to Boxing Scene.
