Jaime Munguia is in a new problem in his career, because after the victory he won in the rematch against Frenchman Bruno Surace on May 4, it could be annulled after he tested positive for a banned substance following a post-fight urine test.

According to ESPN's Salvador Rodriguez, a member of the Tijuana, Mexico, fighter's team confirmed that they received notification from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) on Wednesday night of the presence of exogenous testosterone metabolites in Test A and that they are therefore preparing an official response

Munguia, who has a lifetime record of 45 wins, 35 of them by knockout, with two losses, officially has 10 days to request the analysis of the B sample to determine the exogenous origin of the testosterone metabolites. If his B sample also returns an adverse result, then the fighter could have his fight against Surace overturned to a 'no contest' and would be subject to a suspension of between six months and one year, as happened last year with Ryan Garcia.
